Phillips 66—a diversified energy manufacturing and logistics company says its San Francisco refinery in Rodeo, California, will be converted into one of the world’s largest renewable fuels facilities. The company expects that this project—"Rodeo Renewed” will cost approximately $850 million.
The converted facility is expected to begin commercial operations in the 1st quarter of 2024. Once completed, it will use waste oils, fats, greases, and vegetable oils to produce over 50,000 barrels per day, in other words, 800 million gallons per year, of renewable transportation fuels— including renewable diesel, renewable gasoline, and sustainable aviation fuel, instead of processing crude oil.
